Monday was syndicate assembly. We all lined up in n our rooms and walked silently into the multipurpose room. As we walked in the assembly started. The Room Nine host started off by greeting us.Then the certificates were presented to the hard working pupils. The assembly item began with three contestants from each class who were nominated by their peers to dance the 'Juju on That Beat' challenge to see who was the best.
This blog is a record of my learning from Ruapotaka Primary School through to Tamaki College.

First day of term 4
Yesterday was the first day back to school. When I walked into room 12 it was it was empty because we recently moved to room 8a because the roofs of the seniorblock were filled with asbestos. The reason why our class was moved first is because there is a manhole that leads to the roof. We first stared moving our desk along with our chairs then went back to get spear things that were left behind. We finally came back and moved everything back to the way it was in term 3.

🎯Archery

I was interested in the sport when my dad taught me when i was only seven. Even my great aunts, uncles, grandma, grandpa's had been in the archery event ever since the 19th century.
Its an unique sport with unique athletes. The number one athlete i look up to is Ugo Legrand.
The events going to be taking place in Rio janeiro. I’m going to be competing in the under 20 events. The tournament is going to be held in Sambodromo. My team has been training so hard to be better than before. There will be over 20 nations worldwide. Our country won only 23 medals and 14 certificates showing great team work. Our team went to the airport to Rio😐.
We said our goodbyes 😢 but promised to come home with a medal. When we got there we all took snaps on snapchat and had fun looking at the statue of jesus. I took as much photos as I could before our last week of training
Can’t Wait Till Saturday!!😁

Mascot 2016
I choose a dog for my mascot because there aren't many dog mascots in teams or sports. This is my art.
It has music notes because people are singing the national anthem.
It looks like he's disappointed but he's not he's just watching the crowd sing the national anthem.

My Speech On Littering

My Topic: Littering
There I was sitting at my desk thinking of a speech topic until I saw some-one walking past with a piece of rubbish., then the word littering popped into my head. The students in R11 came up with a lot of speech topics. We all had fun listening to one another's speech. In my speech I said that over 100,000 sea mammals die every year because of someones laziness and the most littered item are cigarette butts. My time was about 2 minutes and 55 seconds.
The finalists are... Sebastian, Meafou, Samuel and MinZin.

Clinton and Trump to contest for President
Clinton will represent the Democratic Party while Donald Trump has secured the Republican vote.If Clinton is elected on 8 November, the 68-year-old would return the Clinton family to the White House after 16 years. At this stage it looks like the race will be largely negative in nature.
Both have been active on Twitter and Instagram with negative comments about the other person.

Close Sugar -The Additive Murderer
Fruit sugars or (fructose) are one of the best types of sugar because it gives you more energy than refined sugar and your body can’t get all the sugar out of the fruit so it’s not too bad. The sugar in milk, (unless added), is not great for you but milk is healthy with all of its, iron and vitamins.

Another New Year (Matariki)
Twinkling in the winter sky just before dawn, Matariki (the Pleiades) signals the Māori New Year. Traditionally, it was a time for remembering the dead, and celebrating new life. In the 21st century, observing Matariki has become popular again. Heaven-bound kites, hot-air balloons and fireworks help mark the occasion. Traditionally Matariki means the time to remember those who had died in the last year.
Matariki literally means the ‘eyes of god’.

Brazil’s President suspended
Dilma Rouseff has been suspended from being the president of Brazil. Senators voted to suspend her by 55 votes to 22 after an all-night session that lasted more than 20 hours. Vice-President Michel Temer will now assume the presidency while Ms Rousseff’s trial takes place. The trial may last up to 180 days, which would mean Ms Rousseff would be suspended during the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, which start on 5 August.
Ms Rousseff made a last-ditch appeal to the Supreme Court to stop proceedings, but the move was rejected. Her suspension brings an end to 13 years of the rule of her Workers’ Party.

Far Too Many Fast Foods Around school
For some people it is hard to say no to junk food or fast food. But stores and take away restaurants are so close to schools that many people ( students) can't resist eating at least one piece of fruit every day. As we are produced with milk and fruit more students say
"I'm allergic to it",
or
"My mum said I can't eat that".
The university of Auckland studied to measure how many fast food, takeaway and convenience outlets were around New Zealand schools in 2014.One school in Auckland’s CBD was found to have 85 unhealthy food outlets within one kilometre.😕

Cuddly Toy Lost In Space
They strapped Sam onto his spacecraft, along with a GPS tracker and a GoPro camera to capture the action. However, the problems began during his descent. The balloon popped and Sam’s spacecraft plummeted to Earth, landing over 50km away from the launchpad. The GPS and camera were there, but Sam was nowhere to be seen.

World’s Rich Tax Evaders Are Named
Eleven Million dollars has been leaked by the world's most hidden company... this company only works for rich people to set up offshore money into their accounts. A Tax Haven country is a country that has very little tax. People start business in this country to avoid paying tax. The list of the people who have been clients of this country includes movie star Jackie Chan!!

Britain introduces ‘Sugar Tax’ on drink
The UK government has announced plans to tax soft drink companies. The Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, announced the new tax as part of his 2016 Budget, which sets out how the government plans to spend its money.
At this stage it is thought the tax could raise $1billion (NZD) a year. It will be 2 years before the new tax comes into place, in order to give the companies who make them a chance to change their ingredients.
Flag Referendum
What is your choice for the New Zealand flag?
CURRENT or NEW? Your choice, you can press a button and click the flag you like. The reason why I chose the old flag is because our ancestors fought under it in ww1,ww2 and in ww4. On the other hand why do we even need a new flag?( it costs llost of money!!)
Someone wrote this to encourage others to change it....
"Vote new flag. The old one is too plain and does not look anything like New Zealand so better start voting for the new one."
Why would we actually need a new one?.. And again it's your choice, vote
BUT VOTE WISELY NEW ZEALAND!! thumbs up😊👍

Technicraft
I predict that when we get to technicraft we will get split into groups like the year eights go into one group and the year sevens in the other group, just like last year. My job is to tell the year seven's what's going to happen because it's their first time doing it.

Waitangi At The Wharf
For Waitangi Day (Saturday ) my family and I went to the North cote to celebrate the special day. As soon as we got there I jumped out of the car to see where we were. It turned out to be the wharf at Little Shoal Bay. The wharf has a lot of shells around it and it was really hot. I jumped in anyways.
